Petition: Free 91 year old Spiritual Master & Former Human Rights Lawyer from House Arrest
London, 2 October 2018 – IOPHR launched a global petition in support of the Gonabadi Sufis in Iran, who have experienced severe suppression and crackdown since the Islamic Revolution of Iran 40 years ago. Most recently this year, Gonabadi Sufis fell victim to harsh persecutions by the Iranian regime, which quickly became known as the largest crackdown on any minority groups in Iran in the last decade.
Spiritual leader of the 8 million Gonabadi Sufis, Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, who is 91 years of age is in need of immediate and special medical care, has been held in a House Arrest since February 19th this year by the Iranian regime. He is in an extremely dangerous and delicate situation, which must be addressed immediately.
We are asking help from the International community and the responsible Political figures to demand the immediate release of Dr. Tabandeh from House Arrest, and the release of all unjustly imprisoned Sufis in Iran. We also demand the Iranian government to adhere to the International Charter of Human Rights.
Dr. Tabandeh, just like the well known Sufi poet Rumi, is the embodiment of Sufi values. He has spent his life committed to benefiting humanity. Now it’s time for the International Community to help him in his hours of need.
Sign and share the petition now to free Dr. Tabandeh from House Arrest, and to stop the persecution of all 8 million Sufis in Iran
